禅 – ZEN Cuisine



“Shojin Ryori” – Buddhist vegetarian cuisine is food which embodies the long tradition of the Buddhist spirit in Japan.
Originally,”shojin ryori” was the food of monks at Buddhism temples – especially Zen temples and was based mainly on grains and vegetables; simple but good for the body. Nowadays, “shojin ryori” has become popular with the public in general and has inspired modern variations using it’s simplicity, beauty and health-giving properties.
Our Zen Cuisine boxes are full of Kyoto vegetables – “Kyo-yasai” and soy-based foods, such as tofu, yuba, etc.
